Women at Taycheedah not getting personal hygiene needs met

The Demeter Foundation was recently contacted regarding the overcrowding of Harris Hall at Taycheedah Correctional Institute in Fond du Lac, WI. More than 50 women have access to only three showers and more women are scheduled to move into the building. Lack of facilities to keep clean cause mental and physical health risks. According to health codes there has to be a minimum number of showers and toilet facilities to provide humane and sanitary conditions. Taycheedah is over capacity in all of its housing areas. UPDATE: An email sent to Warden Deanne Schaub was responded to. The showers have extended hours and when resources allow new shower facilities will be built.
